How the story came to be: This was part of a flash fiction writing challenge! The prompt I went with was “What’s a daily task that your character struggles with?” And who hasn’t had a Bad Time in the shower lol
PUBLISHING THE STORY
Relative Confidence Level Before Submitting: 6? 7? (eyyy) but I was like “hey I bet this’ll do numbers at Night Shades”
Rejections before finding a home: 0. I only sent it out to 2 places: Night Shades and someone else (and had to withdraw it pretty much immediately since the acceptance was so fast)
The eventual home: Night Shades. I’ve been published there before! (I think it was in during their first open period, too). Aren’t a TON of markets that like really weird, really short things, so I’m glad it all worked out 🙂
