Notably-Open Markets, May Edition

I was smart and typed up a bunch of these before the 1st because I’ve just been getting more and more busy. Hooray!

If you’re a furry (or you’re a civilian with work furries would like!), you can check out [this spreadsheet] I made that tracks/shows all the furry markets at once, including future windows. This is so nothing gets missed over for the Furry Writers’ Guild newsletters (I’m not even the market officer* lol I just did it anyways). Also to fill in the gap of just being able to see a bunch of markets at once (which you can’t really do like this with the Submission Grinder) just for furry things. So feel free to bookmark it/share it around.

*if you want to see more stuff like this, you should vote for me so I can be!

Of course, if you’re a furry, you can definitely still read and submit to places in these posts! And if you’re not a furry but read these anyways, well, hi! You shouldn’t be surprised you’ve seen my stories you’ve seen my branding.

Info

For a market to be shared, it needs to meet my minimums for a market I’m comfortable recommending. This means:

  • No submission fees, or there’s a waiver to that is reasonable enough (e.g. sub early enough, specific demographics, etc.)
    • I count mailed-in-only subs as a “fee” because that costs money. I’ll make exceptions on a case-by-case basis
  • You’re paid for your work. Unpaid opportunities will be included if sufficiently unique/compelling (i.e. sales are for charity, hyper-niche fanzine)
  • Any format is cool (print, anthologies, web, audio, etc.), except crypto/NFT-bullshit
  • Absolutely no AI of any sort
    • No AI images, including social media posts
    • No tolerance of AI-generated works
  • They are respectful, professional, and not hateful
    • Good contracts, they keep their word, etc
    • No TERFs, Nazis, etc. or places that knowingly platform such people/views
    • They treat your data with respect (e.g. no sharing/selling, basic security features on website, etc.)
  • Nowhere the vibes are “off” (I know that’s really vague/subjective, but this is me recommending markets!)

Markets!

Format:

  • ❓️Market, genre/theme (unless the market name makes it obvious), lengths/types, pay, limited demographics (if applicable), window info [link to submission guidelines]

The ❓️ is 1 or more emoji to quickly communicate what lengths they take, in case you’re only interested in certain ones!
